I don't really want to complain about the visuals - the concept was cool but too big for the technical capabilities, and it doesn't really matter anyway.

The technical difficulties with mixing and instrument/mic volume were largely resolved which also made for a more immersive experience. Setlist was improved because it didn't underline Marko's absence as much as the first night did (though I'm still having a hard time fully enjoying the new sound). Where the first night had more of an emotional component for me - damn, I really missed the live shows!, the second one was better quality-wise. Which is to be expected in the middle of the night after probably singing a lot less than normal because of the pandemic. I mean she hit the notes and gave them power where needed, but I detected a little bit of fatique. I feel that Floor was struggling a bit during the second show. Oh, and the visuals of Tribal during Alpenglow, but that made it quite funny. The only thing that (very slightly) bothered me was Harvest, because the vocals didn't really work. I'm sure I'm not the only one lacking good equipment. Had they upped the resolution, it would not have played at all I think. My computer already had a hard time streaming, because it's an old, battered thing. I thoroughly enjoyed the look of the Islander's Arms. I loved both shows! The setlists were great and I think they did an amazing job, considering they're used to playing their sets in front of a live audience in stead of cameras. If my friend sees this, I love you, you’re amazing and I’m so happy to know you. I actually found a good friend in the live thread for the second show and losing my mind with them made it even more special as we’ve known each other for 10+ years. I didn’t use the chat feature either night because I preferred talking to everyone on here so I can’t comment on that. Personally, I loved it but it could’ve used some tweaking.

She was absolutely brilliant as always but that doesn’t remove any difficulty she almost certainly faced.Īs far as the visuals go, I wish they had sounds to go with them and I’m hoping they rectify that for a DVD release. It can’t have been easy for Floor either. I didn’t enjoy I Want My Tears Back with Troy but I credit him for stepping up to the plate. Troy really stepped up, though, and Floor killed it during the songs she took on Marko’s parts. Speaking of Marko, I truly missed him at times. I still loved it but it almost felt like a test run. They didn’t seem too confident during the first one but I can’t blame them, especially as Tuomas is so prideful about putting on a good show and it being the first show without Marko.

It felt like the Nightwish I know and loved whereas the first one didn’t feel that way so much. I didn’t expect that many changes to the setlist. I also preferred the setlist but that’s down to personal preference. The audio mix was better and everyone seemed more relaxed. The second show blew it out of the water for me, though. The setlists for both nights were filled with surprises. I absolutely loved both shows! I did not expect Shoemaker to be played. Admittedly with Mistborn hitting Fortnite this week it would have been 100% hilarious too though to have them intersect with yet another random thing important to me after I found them because of Dragonlance and then they made music about the book that caught my wife's attention. That works if you hold a concert in Wow or Fortnite or something where people already have characters they feel connected to but I'd have been really sad to see Nightwish do something that exclusive. I was really glad they ditched the avatars and interactivity nonsense. But for something with a budget somewhere around 100-500k it's pretty amazing and feels very in tune with their mood and style. It does when you only watch movies expected to make hundreds of millions of dollars and play AAA games. I got really annoyed with the people griping because it looks like something from 15 years ago. Given the amount of money this probably made(max of 5 million or so) I was really impressed with the amount of work put into the venue. A little stiff but as a big guy, I imagine moving in that space wasn't as comfortable as on a live stage and he could clear like half the stage in 2 steps. Floor looked amazing up there and everyone else seemed to be having a good time in a difficult experience. Especially night 2 but Shoemaker made night 1. Sound quality was as good as I could hope for. Watched the first show live while documenting some stuff for work, then again that evening with my wife.
